Dr. Hopkins is a musician with diverse experiences in music education and performance. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Bucknell University. There, he conducts the University Choir and teaches courses in conducting, voice and vocal pedagogy, theory, and more. He is also the Music Director at Rooke Chapel on campus.
As a singer, Caleb has performed as a soloist in works such as Pärt’s Passio, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and more. He has also performed with numerous professional choirs including Kinnara Ensemble (Atlanta, GA), Voices (Rochester, NY), and the Herring Chamber Ensemble (Greenville, SC).
Caleb earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting from the Eastman School of Music. There he served as associate conductor of the Eastman-Rochester Chorus and the Eastman Chorale, and conducted in the annual Bach Cantata Series. He earned the Master of Music degree at the University of Georgia and the Bachelor of Arts from Furman University.
His hobbies outside of music include cooking, long distance running, and playing with his puppies. He and his lovely wife, gifted soprano Susannah Stewart, and son Rhodes, live in Lewisburg and have enjoyed exploring the surrounding communities and calling the Central Susquehanna Valley home.
